Mech Tech upgrades will, of course, allow work to happen faster which becomes important if you are moving around the star map faster. Having a larger mech bay allows you to deploy on missions while other mechs are being repaired/upgraded. With no time cost for missions being able to move around the star map quickly as early as possible is a major opportunity upgrade. The Argos Engine Upgrades, Mech Bay, and Mech Tech upgrades would seemingly be very important to get ASAP.
